MILITARY ACTIONS OF 101, 104 AND 105 SKI BATTALONS IN KURSK REGION IN 1942
Introduction. In conditions of political reality and attempts of Western countries to rewrite the results of the Great Patriotic War, it is necessary to pay more attention to uncovering unknown pages of the war. The purpose of the article is to consider the combat path from the beginning of the formation of 101, 104 and 105 ski battalions in 1941 – until the last battle and the reorganization as a result of significant losses in 1942. Materials and Methods. The basis of the study is the principle of historicism, the essence-content analysis, system method and descriptive-narrative method. Results. 101, 104 and 105 SSB were created on the territory of the Siberian district in 1941. The commander of the 101th SSB was Captain Rubakov, in 104 SSB – Lieutenant Andreev. The chronology of military operations from the moment of arrival to the Kursk land in March 1942 to the last battle in April 1942 is considered, after which the military leadership decided to reform. Discussion and Conclusions. The considered documents and survey of eyewitnesses of events prove the fact of short participation in military operations of separate ski battalions on the territory of the Kursk region. The names of the commanders of 101 and 104 SSB were established. The fact of having a sufficient number of uniforms and ammunition and combat personnel was proved. The findings of the study create prerequisites for further research and study of the military operations of the SSB in the Kursk region, and the results can be used in the patriotic education of youth and the restoration of historical events of the Great Patriotic War in the Kursk region.
