History of Formation and Combat Path of 314th Rifle Division from Kazakhstan during the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945)

 

Abstract

Introduction. The purpose of the article is to analyze the formation and combat path of the 314th Infantry Division, formed in 1941 at the territory of the Kazakh SSR. The relevance of the study was determined by the need to study the history of the formation of the Kazakhstani division, from the date of the decree of the State Defense Committee of the USSR, the implementation of this decree by the leadership of the Kazakh SSR, the participation of the military authorities of the republic in the implementation of the planned goals on the ground through the organization of interaction between local government and military administration, the command of the division, the Central Asian Military District in the territorial responsibility of which included the republic.

Materials and Methods. The author used the method of source study to solve the scientific problem. The authors of the Soviet period, modern Kazakhstan and Russia have studied the topic in different years. The works of researchers devoted to the history of the Great Patriotic War, historical documents of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty), the State Archive of Almaty and the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (Podolsk) were used in the work.

Results. The peculiarities of the ongoing work on the formation of the 314th Infantry Division are given, the tendencies of staffing the military units of the division with senior, junior commanding and rank-and-file personnel of the units are revealed. The combat path of the Kazakhstan  division during the war is revealed, some pages of heroism of its soldiers and commanders on the battlefields, which became a personal example to raise the patriotic feelings of Soviet citizens, are established.

Discussion and Conclusion. It is concluded that the 314th Infantry Division from Kazakhstan made a contribution to the achievement of the Soviet victory over Germany.
