The Mentality of the Inhabitants of Saransk District in the Imperial Period: Spiritual Traditions and Modernity

 

Abstract

Introduction. The purpose of the article is to conduct a theoretical analysis of the mentality of the inhabitants of Saransk district in the imperial period through the prism of spiritual traditions and modernity. To identify the most significant specific character traits of the residents of Saransk district at that time, to justify the need to turn to the study of the mentality of residents in the context of spiritual traditions and modernity.

Materials and Methods. Theoretical methods: analysis of scientific literature on the studied problem, comparative analysis, comparison, generalization, systematization. Empirical methods: the method of expert assessments.

Results. A number of preliminary remarks were made indicating the characteristics of the Mordovian ethnic group. The advantages (reliance on spiritual values) and negative (an attempt to compare one’s own culture with the cultures of other ethnic groups) trends in the development of the mentality of residents of Saransk district during the imperial period are noted. They can contribute to changing the self-awareness of a modern person in the context of the transformation of Russian society. It is concluded that the development of Russian society in the context of globalization can be successfully carried out and in this regard requires serious research.

Discussion and Conclusion. As a result of the research, the necessary conclusions have been drawn and the patterns of the functioning of values in Russian society have been established. The conclusions allow us to conclude that there are opportunities in Russia to ensure the effective implementation of the optimal functioning of the values of the inner world of a person. The system of spiritual values of Russian society should form the basis for optimizing the functioning of all spheres of public life.
