Introduction. Due to the development of information and communication technologies, the impact of the media on the population has increased significantly. Journalistic discourse implements one of its main functions – the function of influence and manipulation – by referring to various means of evaluation. In this case, any object or phenomenon of reality, as well as current events, can be evaluated.
Materials and Methods. This work examines the evaluative lexical-semantic units that describe the attitude of the 46th President of the United States, J. Research methods include the continuous sampling method and the method of contextual analysis.

An analysis was given of the purpose of evaluative tools in a particular context, and the evolution of the attitude of the English-language media to the position of J.
