ON THE CONTEMPORARY SIGNIFICANCE OF INTEGRALISM: THE ISSUE OF REHABILITATION OF THE TRIADOLOGICAL APPROACH IN THE DYNAMIC CYCLIC THEORY OF P. A. SOROKIN
Based on the materials published in the journal “Biocosmology – neo-Aristotelism” – of the selected chapters from the book “Pitirim A. Sorokin in Review” (1963) – the author seeks to explore the issue of the contemporary significance of Integralism in Sorokin’s studies. The main line of analysis is carried out by comparing the concept of Integralism in Sorokin’s later works – with its rationale in the main work of the scholar, four-volume “Social and Cultural Dynamics” (1937–1941). The author’s main conclusion is that there clearly is a need to rehabilitate the original concept of Integralism (achieved in the “Dynamics”), thus focusing on the construction of contemporary Integralist forms that are based on the Triadologic approach, i.e. which realize the intermediate (but autonomic) – in-between the polar Types of sociocultural supersystems
(T_SCSS) – actualizing the effective “synthesis of opposites”, through the equal use of the means that are inherent to both polar types (T_SCSS) of organization.
